To the authors, it was important that a god possess and demonstrate this ability. What kind of shit god couldn't lay a proper curse? Jphn, however, wonders what kind of shit god would.
See, if I had written the book, I would have made it plain that these people were created with the knowledge of right and wrong/good and evil. Then I would have had God warn them about eating from a particular tree because God said so.
Justifiable punishments ensue.
