1) How "small" the world really is. Sort of like Soph said in the other thread...assholes are assholes everywhere. And good people are good people everywhere.
2) Conversely, how "big" the world is. Having friends on pretty much every continent is a real eye-opener, and I wish every American was encouraged to do so.
3) Everyone's got a vulnerable side...even the ones who don't seem like it...and being witness to it is an incredibly humbling, and sometimes precious, experience.
4) Religion sucks. I wouldn't ban it, but I never cease to be appalled at the lengths people go to hurt those close to them in the name of "faith". I realize now that whatever I dealt with as a kid wasn't even the scratching of the surface of what some people deal with on a daily basis.
5) Myriad things about myself. Things I need to work on (a lot of shit). Things I wish I were better at. There are a lot of people on this board I look up to and wish I were worthy of. I'm further humbled by the undeserved compliments I've received and want to live up to them.
6) Affection and friendship have few constraints, and living in the internet age is fuckin' amazing.
7) Age and education do not necessarily confer wisdom.
8) A Muslim, and Atheist, and a former Jew CAN share a virtual group hug. Maybe if we did it for real in Gaza we'd help initiate peace.
9) To walk away when something is irritating, hurting, or overwhelming me and come back in a better frame of mind. Also, to apologize when I'm wrong and mean it.
Oh, and 10) apparently I want to sleep with 5thHorseman. I had my sights set on the wrong Brit all this time. Geez.
