I've heard so many people recount how they saw EpIV in the movies back in 77 and rewatched it 5 times. I'm a child of the late 80s/90s, but it's close enough that I can imagine what it must have felt like for them. Whenever I watch IV-VI, I kinda watch them through the eyes of all those people. I have some nostalgic feelings for V and VI in particular, it was the first ones I saw on TV, and I loved the contrast in scenery of space/degoba/tatooine.
I can absolutely tolerate I-III except two things: the abysmal acting and CGI in II, and the fact that III is historically too.close to IV and thus demystifies what in IV is still a mysterious and obscure past/legend. When Obi recounts tales of a time long forgotten, this mystique adds greatly to the atmosphere of the whole original trilogy, and this gets effectively erased by Ep III, otherwise the best prequel.
EpVII was super meh and I lost interest in seeing anything beyond that.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
