You can look at my lack of understanding of the plot of Wuthering Heights as being the same as not understanding how the lady is sawed in half. It does not matter that i want to be an illusionist, but it does not hurt that I don't know the trick even if I don't want to become a magician myself. Just like knowing the plot of a book does not mean you want to write one yourself does not mean you can't appreciate someone who does write a book.
