Because we in the west worship self, worship the individual over all else. to force an individual beyond his want or will become the highest crimes one can commit.

About 5 studies/polls should suffice. 

Then lets see the polls and studies about what crimes in the West are considered the worst.

Turns out, Drippy is wrong again. Taking a life by various means is the highest set of crimes, as they are all over the world. 

But .... it's a REALLY stupid argument. 
The fact is if people in the West view it the way they view it, and they live in the West, then what another culture thinks about it is totally irrelevant. 
Are they supposed to magically fly to some other culture ?
