Redbaron
Hi all,

You may remember my nephew Redbaron on this site, whose parents forced him to sign a "contract" saying that he would have to go to church every week or else they'd throw him out of their house. Well apparently they did just that last night. He did go to church yesterday morning, but left near the end before it was over. He was studying at a friend's house when he got a text message from his mother (my sister) telling him that they were throwing his belongings out of the house.

He returned home & had an argument with them, packed up his stuff and came over to my house last night and slept on the couch. He is welcome to stay her as long as he needs, but I'm not happy with my sister & brother-in-law over this. I do plan to call her and get her side of the story, but no matter what this is extremely drastic action for them to take. He is going to school and works part time, so it's not like he's wasting his life. The way I see it, this is no different from someone throwing their adult child out of the house because they're gay.

I know my sister thinks that her son doesn't respect her and her husband, but respect is a two-way street. He may not have respected their rules, but they never respected his beliefs. I'm thinking that they may have been bluffing and hope that he'll crawl back to them, but I think he needs to get away from that poisonous atmosphere for a while. I also think they're just totally frustrated because they can't counter his arguments over religion, and instead tried to use power, which is the only angle they had left.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.
