I think you may have misread Brian’s earlier post - he said we CAN’T get off fossil fuels in a day. I think any sensible person would agree with that.

He is assuming (wrongly) that there is an alternative - simply because he wants there to be one.

I agree we cant get off it overnight, but humans have no choice but to try. 

I find this logic absurd knowing that most of our species history our species survived without combustion engines.

You can argue "will we", that is a better argument. But there are lots of things in the past humans thought impossible that we take for granted every day now.
