I know what a "Praying mantis" is. It is bullshit religious nomenclature. In reality that species of insect thrives on sitting still waiting for a sudden prey to be in range which it pounces to in lighting speed. So no, that insect isn't "Praying" it is "Preying".
In my youth I actually and STUPIDLY tried to pick one up in my front yard. And based upon my delusions like other slow moving life, I tried to pick it up. It was blazing fast, and it had spikes on it's legs and that fucker let me know I was in the wrong. "Praying" mantis's are not "praying" to shit, they are standing still to capture PREY.
