In my youth I actually and STUPIDLY tried to pick one up in my front yard. And based upon my delusions like other slow moving life, I tried to pick it up. It was blazing fast, and it had spikes on it's legs and that fucker let me know I was in the wrong. "Praying" mantis's are not "praying" to shit, they are standing still to capture PREY.
Yeah, I don't think you're allowed to rename bugs because of your personal viewpoint. Are you also going to rename butterflies because they don't eat butter and they aren't flies? The correct name is 'praying mantis', because of the position in which it holds its forelegs.
