We exist because natural selection conserves mutations that allow successful reproduction and culls mutations that lower the chances of successful reproduction, and ignores neutral mutations that can cause speciation from genetic drift alone.

Evolution has nothing to do with (a)theism. Those are two separate issues

God(s) may exist and life has evolved on earth or not.
God(s) may not exist and life may has evolved on earth or not.
Completely unrelated.

Of course if you have been told that your idea of a god should be incompatible with the scientifically established fact of evolution*, thats your problem. And if, in case of such a conflict, you drop knowledge rather than an unsubstantiated belief, then your problem solving skills suck.


*yes, evolution is an observable fact: Random mutation, and speciation over time,  the theory of evolution as its commonly known is the explanation.
