I must confess, that's way ahead of my Middle Earth timeline. None of my stories take place more than a century after the War of the Ring. Also, I never considered whether or not Gimli might have fostered any illegitimate children. To the best of my knowledge, he was still a bachelor when he accompanied Legolas across the Great Sea to Valinor. 
Dwarves are randy bastards, so children born on the wrong side of the blanket are assumed.
