I'm under no illusions about the moral nature of hunting animals for sport, and I generally tend to think that anything I kill feels and knows more than we give it credit for....but.....I still do it.
As for the conservation value, that's a good example of a bad take. The conservation value is demonstrable, and clear...but the money doesn't always go where it should and the animals aren't always treated as the valuable resource that they are, even for sport. It's probably the exception when they are, rather than the norm.
All of that aside...I refuse to eat bear meat. No one can make me put it in my mouth. More power to people with broken tongues who think it tastes good if you add the weight of the meat in spices and cook it for a week and don't mind the worms....but I wont eat it, lol. I don't eat deer aside from jerky, either. That's why I don't hunt alone. Mostly, game tastes like shit to me. I'm in it for a long shot and a good kill. Ridge to ridge, down in one. If I was hungry I'd be trapping, not shooting.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
