Not a fan of the mob mentality at all that can be seen on platforms like Twitter and such (because the behaviour itself is often sheeplike, done automatically and without adequate awareness), but this is an issue that happens among various populations and isn't just restricted to the left only. And I've almost definitely been a part of such mobs one time or another, so it's certainly something I have to always monitor myself to avoid doing.
That said, I think people who whine about "cancel culture" need to get a grip and understand the impact words and actions committed by celebrities can have on certain groups. If it's some "mildly" offensive stuff you said that you know you shouldn't have said, fuck your ego and learn to own up to what you said and apologize in a manner that shows you acknowledge that what you did was wrong without making stupid excuses and then blaming others. That's if you feel bad, of course. If you don't give a shit, then you don't give a shit and shouldn't complain anyway then.
If you said some really offensive stuff, just as you have the right to express your really offensive view, people have the right to express offense at what you said. It's stupid to complain about them doing so (though you have the right to be an egotistical whiner, obviously).
And if it's all because of something really bad that you did that physically harmed others, you deserve what you get.
So the problem really is with?
ETA: In case of genuinely false accusations, yeah that one sucks big time. But if that has ever happened, I think the person being accused has the right to do what they can to clear their name. I never understood why they're legally advised to remain silent on the accusation if that just makes people suspect guilt on their part, but whatever.
