No, I'm a good parent, they do as they are told, surely God, with all his power could do thus with his children?
He could easily stop people from doing wrong, but that would mean that no one had any choice. If God made an appearance, for example, everyone would obey Him, even the people who hated Him. But then no one would have any choice. He keeps Himself at arms length to allow people a choice.

He allows us to go wrong if we're totally bent on doing it. If your kid wants to go and do something wrong, and you lock him in his room, sooner or later he will find a way to get out and do it. He will probably resent you all the more for restricting him. God may have done quite a bit, but humanity was obviously determined to do whatever it wanted to.
Why do you anthropomorphosise this deity of yours as if he is a father?? My father was a jerk and sounds like you are no better.
The relationship between God and His church is as a Father to His children. When you become a Christian, God adopts you as His son or daughter. The body of Christ is a family and Christians are brothers and sisters.
