Yes, it happens.
I was having horrible chest pains, and could barely breathe as a result, many years ago. I went to the local clinic for my medical provider and it turned out to be a pulled muscle in my rib cage. How I did that is completely beyond me. In all fairness to myself, when I went in I told them that I was certain that I was not having a heart attack. I got bumped in line, anyway, because that old man self-diagnosing could certainly be wrong, and having him die in the waiting room would be a bit embarrassing, to say the least. Once I got an EKG, the urgency dropped off considerably, and I spent a fair amount of time in the waiting room, thereafter, waiting for the rest of the tests. I'll be honest, I was pretty damned scared, it hurt so badly. It was on a Monday, about 9 AM when it came on. Bad timing, right? Typical heart attack time!
