I've worn a bandana or PM2.5 filter while working outside or with saws for several years. I began wearing them in stores last March, mainly shop dust masks. Now, I have a dozen cloth masks in rotation and a box of paper ones in my office.
My daughter brought friends out for an afternoon on the water yesterday. During our visit, with crusty ash and walnut leaves blowing around us, she wondered aloud why she "ever breathed the same air as the general public in the first place." Like in a bar or on an airplane. We both agreed there is no reason to roll back 6 ft. apart. It's a comforting 6 ft. I will likely keep a mask handy from now on.
