I don't know all of the details but someone called to police for a reason. When the police arrived the reason appeared to be a guy threatening people with a knife, who refused to drop the knife.
Sometimes the responsibility/liability falls on the offender, including death.
Even the mentally ill? You do know his father said he had mental health issues and was on medicine?
I am sorry, but just because someone is armed doesn't mean you always have to kill them. And again, there are plenty of cases where cops successfully disarm people without killing them.
Deadly force should always be a last resort, but in America it has become far to often a hair trigger default.
Did the responding officers know when they arrived? How close would you let an angry person with a knife get, mentally ill or not?
Were the previous "successfully disarmed" aggressively advancing on the police?
Being mentally ill does not relieve the person of all responsibility.
Plus, I previously said that the police over reacted.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
