I'm 53, live in Iowa and am in the constant shadow of getting COVID, as I have no choice but to work in a job where I interact constantly with new strangers each and every day. Short of a vaccine, getting it seems inevitable. At least my district (Cedar Rapids) has stop sending the kiddos to school, and so, my 9-year old is home doing her virtual classroom. By the way, a great South Park episode here recently on this!I have to apologize for my stupid brother who lives in CR and is a rabid Trumpazoid and "COVID is a hoax" dipstick. Even though he has already had COVID.
I can't believe all the people I know from growing up in Iowa who have downplayed this all along...and now it rears up and shows Iowa what's what.
Iowa is somewhat strange; the major cities are Democratic (except for Sioux City) but the rural areas are almost entirely Republican. Steve King, openly racist, is a House representative out in the western part of the state who lost his election earlier this month. Iowa City, just to the south of me, and the home of the University of Iowa, has an active socialist and openly gay community.
