Yet another entry into my personal Pantheon Of Heroes.
Charles Jean Rigoulot (1903-1962) was a Frenchman with a varied career. He -
-Won the 1924 Olympic gold medal for weightlifting in his division and held 8 world records in the sport.
-Worked as a professional wrestler.
-Had a small, but well received, career as a singer and actor in French theatre.
-Competed in the 1937 Le Mans auto race.
And the kicker
-During WWII, he was jailed for hitting a Nazi officer. He and several other prisoners escaped when Rigoulot bent the bars of his cell. On their way out of the prison, he stopped long enough to beat the Nazi guard who had locked him up. He managed to stay on the run and elude capture for the rest of the war.
Badass.
