The smell was horrible, we didn't locate the cat so I tried to follow the smell + the hordes of bugs (flies and little fuckers).
We finally located the poor thing, it was dead and bloated behind the neighbor's water tank.
I did something I regret now while searching: I picked up a branch and started to poke the source of the flies, my legs felt so itchy afterwards, flies came flying in huge numbers. until I went inside and took a shower.
Very sad. Obviously the cat was hit by a car; but not fatally: retreated behind the water tank, then died there.
A very sad thing for everybody involved...
Especially when it's unexpected and yucky like this. I'm sorry you had to go through it.
It's strange how strongly a pet's death can affect us, even when it's not our own.
This is not the first cat I know near me to get hit by a car in the last months; a new caffe opened next to me and teenagers are pouring there like crazy, boys try to impress girls and vise versa.
Since there is no bars or nightclubs in SA teenagers gather in caffes, so expect crazy shit whenever the weekend comes. A stupid kid with 50000 $ car won't care about a cat crossing the road.
The longer you live with a pet they turn from "it" to "he/she";becoming relatives and friends.
