I can tell you from personal experience, having remarkably done a 180 degree turn from what I used to be (not by my power) - that unless GOD magnanimously reveals Truth - one cannot see.
It imperative to exercise humility because "GOD resists the proud but gives grace to the humble".
Upon this occurrence, one would be inclined to say - much like the former slave trader John Newton (among many others) - "I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see."
Yeah, for this to be a thing you have to buy into the whole holy scripture narrative.
