Corpus Christi Day

I spent one day in Corpus Christi, Texas. Got a sunburn and bought some crabs (the kind you eat). That is all.

And you didn't even go to the Selena museum? That's probably the only reason to go there in the first place!

I live in a very Catholic country and as far as I can tell, today is just an ordinary day.

Then it is no public holiday in your country, probably.
Here it is.
No processions, though. Because of Covid 19.

In Catholic countries, where Corpus Christi Day is no public hoiiday, those processions used to be on the coming Sunday.

Even when I went to Catholic school, it wasn't much of a big deal. Or, for that matter, any sort of deal. This may be a function of A) living in the Protestant-dominated US, or B) its falling sometime during summer vacation, at which point, I didn't have to even act like I gave a shit about Catholicism.

Also, for what it's worth, I can't hear the words "Corpus Christi" without imagining this:

It was apparently a cover of a Benjamin Britten cover of a poem from the early 16th century, inspired by Janet Baker's 1967 recording of the setting, and would, in turn, inspire a cover by Jeff Beck.
