This morning I came looking for another atheist site and I remembered I also had this account I don't know why I left and I don't really remember what happened. Hopefully, I didn't do anything ridiculous. although I was just a couple of days ago thinking about this situation that happened and I had forgotten exactly what happened or why it happened. So reading this and having it all come back to me was kind of interesting.(September 6, 2019 at 4:39 pm)TristanJ Wrote: I was thinking about this before returning home today after work and i think i was almost embarrassed that i couldn't defend myself after watching tons of debates. But in the end it probably doesn't matter your not wrong. I actually put a home made no religion no politics at my door and hopefully they can read, maybe someday but for the moment i just don't got enough skills to debate.
But, once again, while I'm not trying to minimize how this situation made you feel, who the fuck are they to come to your door and essentially challenge you to a debate about god's existence? You seem to be on the defensive here, but as far as I'm concerned you should be on the offensive. Fuck them for thinking they can just come challenge you like that. Is that how normal humans interact? Knocking on each other's doors and challenging each other to debates? Certainly not in 2019 it isn't. Fuck them!

My flaw is i'm extremely kind and probably trust to easy so i didn't expect that. Although my mother is religious and i just told her this story and she laughed because i told them to google it and basically read. So hey, if shes not offended they're fine. Made my dad mad though not at me just how they interacted with me not sure why, but i always suspected my dad was a non beliver who just goes with what my mother says but he claims he believes in "Something" so unsure sometimes other times he says differently.
Once again, who cares if they're offended? I agree, you are too nice! Not knocking you though, I hear what you're saying.
It's just, to me, fuck anyone who comes to my doorstep to challenge what I do or don't believe. It's no one's business unless I choose to specifically engage in that conversation. You shouldn't be worried about them being offended, you should be saying, "Fuck you and the horse you rode in on, get off of my goddamn property."
Just my two cent.
Now in 2021 I would say I'm not so scared to tell people to go away anymore. I don't think I would have had the confidence back then even given great advice to actually tell anyone to go away I think I would have felt too embarrassed or ashamed even though I had nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed about. Ironically you were completely right and I needed to toughen up. Today people don't knock on my door anymore i started putting up signs and telling people I don't have any interest in religious debates or politics. So far everyone has respected the signs.
It did turn away somebody just looking for bottle collection once but that was only once and I was just too slow to open the door. but they didn't seem too bothered or anything so that was mostly my fears rather than reality.
