Which can logically be likened to a harmless self-delusion

Again, "can be compared to" or "can be likened to" proves nothing. You can compare shit to chocolate. You can liken homosexuality to bestiality, and many have. You can liken anything to anything, if you try hard. So what?

Non-binary people can be likened to mixed race people -- "white" and "black" are just useful categories, but children of mixed marriages are neither one nor the other. They can be likened to ambidextrous people. They can be likened to people who are equally happy to eat sushi or empanadas. 

So if likening one thing to another is somehow an argument, then non-binary people can be likened to all kinds of good things. 

Are they still delusional? Absolutely.
