If you get hit by a vehicle such as a car or anything larger - odds are the body trauma is going to be so severe the helmet is a moot point.
Simple fact - motorcycles are dangerous as fuck in comparison to other vehicles. The ONLY way to make one really safer - is to leave it in the garage.
Anyone who argues that there is a " safer way to ride" hasn' t been hit by a pickup truck......
That’s more or less why I gave up riding. The three crashes I was involved in over 20+ years didn’t do it, it was seeing my mates get killed or injured for life.
One of the hardest things I ever did was selling my Electra Glide.

Husband used to have a Sportster...for one reason and that was to go fast. I think I rode a total of two miles on it.
He didn't wear a helmet unless he went somewhere it was required and then he wore a half helmet. He wore goggles at most.
I knew he was going to drive it like a dumb ass so I was happier he didn't wear a helmet because if/when he wrecked it would probably kill him the way he rode. After we moved here he was a bit afraid to ride it with traffic being as it is in Dallas so he bought a bigger bike...one for more sane riding. But too many close calls made his sell it.
I know a lot of people who got majorly screwed up due to mototcylcle accidents and a helmet would not made it much better.
I'm your huckleberry.
