This is literally Heinrich Himmlers argument in his speech on Oct, 4th, 1943 to high ranking SS officers. That all those who killed thousands and tousands of jews did this in an honourable way (without excesses!), that the psychological stress was immense and that they deserve (neverending!) praise for enduring this and having kept the higher cause in mind.
