This is a powerful idea. Way more powerful than any idea a person has about Jesus performing miracles. "People who sacrifice themselves for a higher ideal are worth paying attention to (or at the very least, worth honoring or respecting... giving tribute)." THAT'S the idea.
When it needs to be a "magic person" or "divine person" who was sacrificed in order to make sense of the moral, then the story loses much of its meaning.

Do you think the miracles written in the Gospels are true? I don't. I don't have definite knowledge one way or the other, but I conclude that the descriptions of miracles found in the Gospels were fabrications. Sure, maybe I'm wrong. But it is reasonable to conclude as I have concluded. It's a discussion worth having, anyway, and I think the conclusion that the miracles were fabricated is defensible. Very defensible.
