Similarly, the muslims knew they weren't jewish or christian - the myths surrounding their purportedly shared god needing further revision to fit their ideology. Each group borrowing a ladder, repainting it, then loudly claiming against all evidence and reason that the ladder was never anyone else's to begin with and/also/or that every previous owner laddered wrong.
