I don't think that it does - but that's not why I'm an atheist, and it's probably an open question as to whether I'm irreligious.
I think that people who aren't happy will shop, if they seek a religion to produce happiness. Thing is, I strongly suspect that whatever it is about your religion, that makes you happy, I'll have some analog for. A thing that makes me feel that same way. We know that we both value happiness and find happiness, for example - already.
