Remember Christine Chubbuck? The Florida reporter who blew her brains out on live TV in 1974 and inspired at the very least, this scene from Network (to the point where an early draft of the script actually mentioned her case):
For 47 years, the video of the incident was lost to time, and while a video claiming to be a tape recording of the real incident started circulating in 2017, one of her coworkers confirmed that it was actually a fake (if a good one). And a few minutes ago, I found out that someone apparently found the actual audio of the last two minutes of the broadcast. The news stories she relates before doing the deed match up with local news stories from the day of the incident, and apparently, the sounds of the gunshot matches what a headshot from the exact type of bullet and gun used would sound like.
Warning: While there is no video, this is apparently the actual audio of her suicide. If this is a fake, it's a bloody good fake. Viewer/Listener discretion is fucking mandatory.
I'm not sure if whoever uploaded it also has the video of the incident, but anyone who's interested in the story can look at a fictionalised version of the incident, called Christine, which stars Rebecca Hall and is readily available on Hulu, Netflix, and Tubi. It's honestly a heartbreaking story of a sensitive soul broken down by both society (especially the station heads who want her to cover more "blood and guts journalism"), and her own mental (and also, to an extent, medical) problems. And, as someone who's lived with depression, it does a damn good job of portraying the doldrums.
