Indeed.
Being the eldest of four, with a thirteen year age gap between me and the youngest pretty much put me off children.
The last time I actually liked a child as a person was in 2000. I was visiting friends in Cambridge. She was on her second marriage, with another set of kids. They were 11 and 12. They boarded at school because they were choristers at Kings College, so only home on weekends. The twelve year old was a bit of a dweeb.. The eleven year old was very bright and witty. We had some actual conversations.
When I first moved in here, 30 years ago, the cul de sac on which I live was arse deep in kids around the age of five or so. I learned very quickly not to exceed ten km/hour down the hill. Fortunately they all grew up. Then all of the boys all bought cars. Mercifully, they have all moved away, whether through marriage or prison I have no idea .
