There are two versions of Christianity: 

1-True Christianity: or the Nontrinitarianism 
2-Heathen Christians: the mainstream Christians that practice heathen rituals, and overtook the Roman Church.

Blinding is practiced by the heathen Christians, so as many savage, inhumane atrocities. It's subject to the will of the king in heathen Christian societies, and the law of the king is the law of God in their communities.
