You're taking this too literally. It's like a vaccine in the sense that it gives you the immunity, and you usually have very mild symptoms, which most often manifest as what would appear to be the common cold. This is not a case of either take a booster or get Omicron in a vacuum. It's take the booster and likely get a more dangerous variant of Covid later, or get Omicron now (not advocating that people do this on purpose. It's spreading like wildfire nonetheless) and then you have significant immunity.
