You want to go back to prohibition while we're at it? Alcohol can be pretty dangerous too, ya know.

Prohibition was a policy that was bound to fail. It didn't stop people from drinking. It just created a huge market for booze, much of which was even more dangerous than before because it was done by people who didn't know what they're doing.

Meanwhile, the COVID vaccine does help a lot in making those who get it more resistant to the virus so people don't fucking die.

IA: "10 EVERYONES GOING TO GET COVID ANYWAY! EVERYONES GOING TO GET COVID ANYWAY! 20 GOTO 10"

And if that's true, then why not take measures that have been proven to make the inevitable case of COVID less severe?

IA: "But children don't die of COVID so why give them the vaxx?"

Compulsory vaccination of Children isn't unheard of. My home state of Illinois mandates that children be vaccinated against 11 different diseases by the time they reach kindergarten. And while I'm not sure where in Canada IA lives, the province of Ontario also has a list of other diseases that children are required to be immunised against. And notably, one disease required in both lists is measles. And, just like COVID, school-aged children who catch it are far less likely to get complications from the disease, while for adults, it can easily be deadly. Other diseases on the list are likely to have similar effects, but, since I just watched Season 4 of Outlander and one minor storyline involves a measles epidemic, that's the one that comes to mind at the moment. So, while IA balks at the idea of forcing children to be immunised against a disease that's not likely to kill them at that age, he should remember that we do exactly that with measles.
