Getting COVID any time soon is not inevitable. In a few months we will have Omicron-ready boosters.
Yes, we have lost the long-term war against this virus, but by the time we "all get it" (probably multiple times), it may be a far less harmful strain. Plus, boosted immunity prevents serious illness. If you would prefer to get COVID every 6 months as an alternative, go ahead. The first couple of times might just kill you.
The more people who keep up their immunity, the less community spread there will be. If 1 in 100 people in my community have the disease on every give day, I'm likely going to be screwed if I have lots of interactions. If only 1 in 5000 have it, I'm much safer.
The "lets everyone get it so we can all get it again 6 months later" crowd is just stupid. The only way their argument would make sense is if 1) getting COVID was safe, and 2) getting the vaccine was dangerous. I actually think that some believe this.
