Here's a very simple example for why life is not good, i.e. why life is fundamentally bad. If I have a bad life, and someone else has a comparatively good life, where's the fairness in that? Did I just not "work hard enough" to deserve a good life? Why doesn't everyone have a good life, if life is fundamentally good? Why do people get depressed, or angry, or tortured to death, if life is good?
