Probably not the best comparison, as in any actual emergency, spending your gun money on mres is a more prudent bet. There just things, they're possessions. There's no dignity or honor or great purpose or even necessity in having a gun. They sit in a closet like a broom 99% of the time you're not spending money (that you could spend on mres) shooting at tin cans or paper targets.
Sure sure, they could kill a man, but who the fuck wants to do that? You gonna kill a man in front of your kids? For your kids? Moral equivalence and firearms has got to be the most ill advised angle for virtue signaling that I can imagine.
