I think I get what you're talking about with your personal experience, I've had moments in my life where I felt like I meditated on the Lord during a time of great emotional strife that he actually answered my prayers but not in some vague way where I wasn't sure it was him. I think this is the kind of thing you are getting at, you meditated and entered a state of mind where you feel like you heard from God.

Of course atheistformus.org is not where experiences like this are respected very much, especially by doggo as he can be pretty ruff with supernatural claims.

You seem like a cool guy, hope to hear more from you.

(Bold mine)

Being ‘rough with supernatural claims’ makes perfect sense. If I make a natural claim, it is likely to be testable to determine whether or not it is true. If I make a supernatural claim, it is unlikely to be testable.

For example, I wake up one day and find that an assortment of small rocks has appeared at the bottom of my garden. I make a natural claim that they were uncovered by a heavy rain that occurred overnight. This is testable by 1) investigating whether or not it rained, 2) determining if the rain was heavy enough to do the work, and 3) checking with my neighbours to see if they had experienced a similar phenomenon in their gardens.

One the other hand, I could make the claim that the rocks were deliberately placed in my garden by angels. I could construct an argument to support such a claim, but I couldn’t actually test it.

I’m hard pressed to think of a single supernatural claim that can’t be dismissed out of hand (on an evidentiary basis, at least).
