If he had a gun with him, why would he borrow one?
I am over this shit. Something has to change. And if it means that fewer people get to have guns, so be it.
How many little kids have to worry about dying by getting shot at school do we really need? Like they aren't going to grow up fucked up after watching their friends and teacher killed while the police stand by waiting for a key?
I'm so done. For one of the few times I agree with 37 - you are a gun worshipper. Everyone else is collateral damage.
I explained why he would borrow a gun.
I carry a little bitty pistol chambered in .380. It is for close range - 20 feet. For the most part it is sufficient for any scenario I expect to encounter. That does not include taking on a maniac with a rifle. It would be better than nothing - but I would prefer to stack the deck more in my favor.
I expect the agent borrowed a shotgun because either 1. He had no gun.
Or
2. He felt the gun he had was insufficient for the task at hand.
Knowing many off duty LEOs carry light handguns - 38 special or smaller - I would bet on #2.
I do not worship guns.
I am simply realistic. Nobody is going to wave a magic wand and make all the bad guns disappear.
Blame the Chinese.
They invented gunpowder.....
It isn't (primarily, at least) about the hardware, although that's clearly a contributing factor. There is something wrong with American society - it creates people who think shooting up schools is a good idea.
In the ten years from 2009 to 2018, the US had 288 school shootings. The countries of Mexico, South Africa, India, Niger, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Brazil, Canada, France, Azerbaijan, China, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Kenya, Russia and Turkey had 29 combined. The other 178 countries in the world had none.
In addition to making guns harder for some people to get their hands on, maybe the US could look at things like better mental health services, domestic abuse, poverty, bullying, and so on.
