But they are so inept they can' t crack another gun safe off campus - put the gun in a car and drive to the school - break a window, go inside and shoot the place up.....

Nope, they wouldn’t even have to crack the school safe. Try again.
In any event, I’m not sure storing AR-15s on school grounds would do much good. The Uvalde cops had access to AR-15s and 21 people died.
