- For the record, I was specifically talking about the Washington DC case, where the black population is getting left behind by vaccine mandates. And, as it turns out, despite all the issues I pointed out about black people's relationship with the white medical establishment, their rates of hesitancy are plummeting, and it seems the big issue is subpar access to the vaccine.
- And are we sure the CDC's loosened their guidelines solely because the virus isn't as bad as it was? Are we sure some of it might not be because their power is being hobbled by the courts? Because a lot of the shit the right have been balking at (from masks to vaccination to social distancing) are still being recommended; they're just recommending it more because they can't make anyone follow it.
- The thing about the vaccines not preventing spread is a bit of an oversimplification: the prevention of spread of the disease tends to happen more when we've got a sufficient percentage of the population vaccinated. Problem is, we've barely even reached that point for the original Alpha variant.
The CDC did not say social distancing is suggested in schools in particular. And even if you think they are being influenced by the courts, the reality remains that tens of millions of children would go without an education and very little spread would be prevented if they went with what you are suggesting, which is just a chaotic shitstorm that will leave millions of children in the dust, and you have to consider that cost when pushing for a vax mandate that you admit won't even prevent spread. And I definitely don't blame you for questioning the CDCs motives. I will never trust them or the WHO again after what they pulled during the pandemic.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the nation should move away from restrictive measures such as quarantines and social distancing and focus on reducing severe disease from COVID-19.
In new guidelines released Thursday, the agency no longer recommends staying at least 6 feet away from other people to reduce the risk of exposure -- a shift from guidance that had been in place since the early days of the pandemic.
