Russian MP calls for Putin to 'stop lying' to the Russian public over Ukraine war

A Russian politician and former army officer has called on top officials in the government to 'stop lying' to the public over their invasion of Ukraine.

I'm glad that people are calling out government lies. 

I remember back in the run-up to America's invasion of Iraq, the government and the corporate media were lying about as much as it's possible to lie. It was pretty amazing.

One foreign correspondent for the New York Times who had been reporting from the Middle East for years stood up and called on the top officials in the government to stop lying. He was fired immediately, of course. He was literally booed off stage where he had been invited to speak. In the end everything he said turned out to be true.

It's interesting to hear what this same correspondent, Chris Hedges, says about the current war. 

Anyway, it's no surprise to hear that the government in Russia is lying. And we know from experience that the US government lies just as much. So we should be careful who we believe.
