Even without that, a 1000kg warhead makes a pretty substantial bang.
Let’s suppose that kindly Uncle Vlad decides, in the interest of freeing those poor, suffering Ukrainians from Hitler and Satan, that he needs to bomb a maternity hospital (a valid military target if ever there was one). One of the ten missiles (out of 55) that gets through hits the hospital. That’s one infrastructure point hit.
But the debris from that hit stubbornly refuses to stay put - sizable chunks of steel and concrete fly every which way. One of them flies a half mile and takes out and electrical transformer. That’s number two. And so on.
Maybe the New York Times can’t count, but I’m fairly certain Ukrainians can.
