For Christmas, I want the necroposting rule back. Digging up old threads in order to have somewhere to post a meme or a random ass comment is a pain and it screws up the flow of the forum...IMO. Some threads fade away because they should.
How about we just auto-close threads that are (mumble) days inactive? If there's interest I can investigate how to implement it.
We used to have the 30 day warning but I think we could go with little longer. Some posts, like the pet thread, go dormant for a while but topical threads that fade away should stay that way. Especially those that start badly and the OP gets banned.
Topics that rise up on the news, etc. can be handled with new threads or a request to reopen.
