The general idea is that it's not working, or not working fast enough for ukraine. It's true that russia can do alot of fun stuff to blunt the effect, but they do this by dipping into their war chest, which they amassed for precisely this reason. Any way we cut it, russias invasion of ukraine has been a disaster for russia. They failed..and arguably for good reason, to fully envision the consequences. This is in addition to overestimating their own military capabilities and underestimating the ukranian ability to resist. Had all of these fuckups not aligned then it may have gone another way. Now, however, even if they managed to freeze the conflict and hold onto the stolen territory, it's still a loss.
Worse still, there's no off ramp for putin, and that's an entirely self inflicted wound. He's said too much crazy shit to lose a war launched for ideological impulse and personal ambition, rather than material gain.
