There’s really no line for him to blur, as he was involved in neither an insurgency or a guerrilla war. His killings can’t even be reasonably called a vendetta or acts of revenge (if it was either, he would have stopped at the Crows who killed his missus).
Furthermore, the mutilation and cannibalism point to the behaviour and motivation of several kinds of serial killers.
