Imperialism neither provide solutions on "the long run", nor believe in the existence of a "long run" in the first place.

Imperialism has a run at least as long as from the late neolithic or copper age to the present space and quantum electronics age. 

without imperialism we would probably have had no run at all beyond late copper/early bronze age, and those few of us who didn’t die in infancy would be living at most in some incipient, barely literate city state.

without imperialism, winter, there would be no islam.    islam is where it is today because,  until its unique deficiencies and internal contradictions caused it fall sadly behind in social organization and technology, it had been the most successful imperial social political construct in all of human history.     now that the shoe is on the other foot, modern muslims who are only sadly muslims today because of whitewashed imperial conquest by islam centuries ago, now bleats like raped sheep while forgetting how many their own creed had gleefully slashed with scimitar and trampled under hoof in its expansion out of its backwater hole in the middle of Arabian desert.
