Edwards does not believe the 1,5 Target of the Paris Agreement can be reached. But he does not believe in the apocalyptic 4 C increase by the end of the century either. He thinks rapid action will probably put us to a climate that is around 2 C hotter than pre-industrial times. With serious challenges awaiting us, but not entirely pessimistic and hopeless like the 3 to 4 C hotter than pre-industrial time scenario.
