I'm not sure about Lutheran in General - it was mainly the pastor we had that was a bit of a nutcase. I think that overall Lutheran isn't too bad, but it is the oldest protestant sect and so you can imagine its still fairly fundementalist.

I just find it hard to believe now that I was Christian for so long. The whole idea just seems proposterous to me now

Tim Keller's a Lutherian isn't he? He seems far from fundamentalist/ literalist to me? Would you say that Lutherianism is predominantly literalist or mixed as are most denominations?
