FYI It used to be a dry state, so going west you were glad to see a giant COLD BEER sign in Kanarado, just across the state line in Colorado. And Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri, are separated only by the Missouri River. Kansas cops used to set up "sobriety check points" on the west end of the bridges. Kansas State Police officers would buy tickets on airplanes flying over the state, not at all landing there, and fine the companies for selling booze "in Kansas".
I remember when KS loosened up its alcohol laws. It was illegal to sell hard liquor in a tavern *unless* it was membership based. So, all the drinking establishments gave out free memberships at the door.
South Carolina same-same. "This is from a member's bottle." was heard throughout the state.
